New Director of Technology

We are delighted to welcome Dr Lucian Falticeanu as our new Director of Technology.

Dr Falticeanu gained both a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Engineering-Tribology at the Dunarea de Jos University’s School of Engineering in his native Romania. These were followed by a Doctorate in Materials Science and Metallurgy at Birmingham University in 2006.  In parallel with his PhD research on powder technology he also held an appointment as a Process Design Engineer and Scientist with a West Midlands nanotechnology company.

Since then Dr Falticeanu has held several senior positions with leading companies in the field of high temperature materials, ceramic and armour materials both in the United Kingdom and abroad. During the past three years, he has contributed towards the development of a novel method for synthesis of boron carbide powders for ballistic protection applications as a Research Fellow in Birmingham University’s Metallurgy and Materials Department  while providing consultancy services in the field of ceramic materials to various U.K and Australian companies. He also held an appointment as a Principal Scientist with a Birmingham nanotechnology company and managed his own start-up company Superhard Materials Ltd.

Precision Ceramics is one of the USA’s leading suppliers of technical ceramics and offers a complete service from procurement and supply though to technical design and specialist machining. In his new role, Lucian will be responsible for developing Precision Ceramics’ expertise and ability to provide a total ceramics solution to an ever-widening array of worldwide applications in industries as diverse as aerospace, electronics and opto-electronics, power generation and offshore oil & gas production.

Lucian and his wife Simona have two sons, Victor and Alex, and live in Redditch, Worcestershire, UK
